亲爱的家长您好:
欢迎您的小孩加入'11 Aborn 中国文化功夫夏令营,在这次夏令营中您的孩子将会学到新的才艺,中国文化,及体验集体生活的乐趣。我们的夏令营是从六月七日开始至八月二十日止, 但Aborn放暑假两周June 20~ July 8,请参加的小朋友按时到校报到。可按周报名。
夏令营规定如下:
1.请带文具袋,书包。
2.午餐可自己携带,也可由中心订购,但请在您孩子到校的前两天通知学校,并缴交费用,我们好做安排。(午餐费每周$20)
3.本校校规禁止打架,斗殴,骂人。无论打人,骂人或还手打骂人者,第一次劝告,第二次通告家长,第三次者将予以退学。休学,退学者请提早两周通知学校,否则仍须交两周费用。
招生:
一、学校拥有加州儿童教育注册执照和保险!
三、每期夏令营除了教数学、英文、中文外,还安排了丰富多彩的活动,有功夫、绘画、音乐、舞蹈、棋类、跳绳和球类等。清晨习武,午后研读。
四、夏令营结束前安排现场表演和展览作品,邀请所有家长观摩。
五、为保证教学质量,每班只限额招收12名学生,鼓励家长报名!有兴趣者,请到Aborn school取报名表格。
夏令营宗旨:
暑假夏令营时间
时间:每周一至周五,上午 8:30 ~ 下午6:30
费用
全日制:$350, 上午8:30-下午6:30;
半日制(数学加强): $250, $1:30~6:30;
小半日(数学加强):$180, $3:30~6:30
注册费:$30元 . 五月一日前报名,注册费全免。
午餐费:午餐费每周$20元.学生也可选择自带午餐。
其他规定: 同一家庭注册二个孩子以上时,第二个孩子将有5%的折扣,第三个孩子享有10%的折扣优惠.. ...;注册每多注册两周时,享有折扣优惠;每周二十小时以上义工的老师的孩子享有半价优惠 (注:义工老师需通过社安局指膜鉴定)。

注:以上时间安排每一期的课程可根据自己喜爱的课目进行调整、望家长提前给老师通知。
主要学习课程与娱乐活动:
中国文化才艺课:中文、拼音、口语、阅读、写作、儿童音乐、诗词、中国腰鼓、扯铃、踢毽子、跳绳、棋类(围棋、象棋等)、球类(乒乓球、排球、篮球、足球等)、美术(绘画、手工制作、陶艺等)、音乐(唱歌、跳舞、音乐欣赏、钢琴等)等 ;
陶艺课程需占用两个连续课时, 材料费+烤炉 另加$25
功夫: 正宗少林功夫,防身自卫术,少林拳,少林十八般兵器,舞狮。
中文班: Chinese Language(听、说、写、读、拼音、造句、诗词、文化知识)
主要是加强孩子的听、说、写、读、拼音、造句、书法练习等。
ACTFL 中文教学标准的五大指标(5C)为:
1. 培养沟通能力(communication)
2. 体认中国文化与习俗(cultures)
3. 贯连其他科学(connections)
4. 比较中西文化特性(comparisons)
5. 运用于实际生活(communities).
课本、作业及补助教材的设计,则特别注重学生在听力理解,口语表达,阅读理解,书写和翻译能力 等方面的学习,以达到“5C”的外语教学标准。
功夫班:功夫可以给孩子带来身体的协调、灵活、防身、健身、来训练学生强壮的体魄、培养高尚的道德情操,帮助学生建立一个永远不负的个性。环境优良,师资力量雄厚。课程设置有太极拳,少林功夫、健身气功,少儿武术,武术专业训练。学员性别不限,年龄不限,有兴趣的各界人士均可报名参加学习。 功夫馆本着招得来、留得住、学得好、拿得出的教学宗旨,精心对待每位学员,针对学员不同特点功夫馆采取循序渐进、因材施教的原则,充分发挥功夫的健身、养身、防身三大功效,来训练学生强壮的体魄,培养高尚的道德情操,帮助学生建立一个永远不负的个性,为更好的适应现代日益竞争激烈的社会,释放和缓解高负荷 的工作学习压力,让孩子更健康活泼;让家庭更和谐美满;让生活更加美好。
数学题解:快速心算,加州教育局标准Math试题,Logical Math课程。
美术班:從儿童鉛笔、蜡笔、毛笔、油棒到炭棒、油彩、陶泥等的應用,培養学生色彩发揮, 創作能力,通過生动有趣的繪画表達对大自然的熱愛,结合中國傳统与西方文化艺朮的特点,提高繪画的技巧和领悟。
游泳: group lesson at YMCA or semi-private lesson at private swimming pool. For both swimming classes , please pay to YMCA or instructor directly.
每周举办一次参观San Jose 图书馆、博物馆、或看电影等!

In summer, we will add more Chinese classes:
Summer Chinese Culture w/ listening, reading, speech and writing class on Wednesday and Friday for G6 and up (4:00~6:00PM, 8 weeks, 16 classes, $360);
We will cover 8 of topics
Last summer, all of the students who took this Intensive Chinese classes were successfully able to catch up/skip grades and learn with our regular Chinese classes, so based on parents' urgent requests, we will continue to offer several intensive Chinese classes.
This class is designed for some older students. They are already G4, G5 or up in their English schools, but they are still at G2 level of our Chinese school in this semester; some students transferred from other Chinese schools, so they need extra lessons to catch up with our students.
3) 汉语会话课 Chinese conversation
Sunday 1:00~2:30PM Chinese conversation for Adult汉语会话课 (I)
We will add 8 weeks, 90min (1:00~2:30PM)/lesson Chinese conversation classes on Sunday in summer $160 +the material/book/CD fee $30 for adult.
Chinese conversation for Adult is an intensive course for non-Mandarin speakers who have just started to learn Chinese. Each lesson is divided into 6 parts: Sentences, Conversation, Substitution and Extension, New Words, Grammar, and Exercises.

Here is the general curriculum map she has prepared for us for the 10 week summer program, which will start start on May 24th, Tuesday and end on August 9th. There will be no class on June 28 & July 5. These classes will be on Mondays from 6:00PM-7:00PM, $42/lesson x 10 lessons = $420, discount rate $350. Aborn School Summer Writing Curriculum
Week 1
Language Arts Writing Process Introduction
1. Review course objectives, and class organization.
2. Generate ideas through discussion, keep a list of writing ideas.
3. Understand the writing process .
4. Review how to use reference materials.
5. Utilize proofreading techniques and workshop expectations.
6. Analyze audience and purpose when writing for different objectives.
7. Understand rubric and self evaluation tools.
Weeks 2-3
Essay Writing &
Persuasive Essays
1. Review expository essays and how to organize writing a five paragraph essay
2. Use transitional phrasing.
3. Accurately quote a source.
4. Use newspaper and reference material to formulate educated opinions.
5. Analyze audience
6. Apply knowledge of words and phrases to persuade readers.
Weeks 4-5
Personal Narratives
1. Use personal experiences as a basis for reflection on some aspect of life.
2. Draw abstract comparisons between specific incidents and abstract concepts.
3. Maintain a balance between describing incidents and relating them to more general, abstract ideas that illustrate personal beliefs.
4. Move from specific examples to generalizations about life.
Weeks 6-7
Playwriting
1. Analyze literary elements contained within plays.
2. Compare and contrast characters, focusing on voice, dramatic interpretation and content.
3. Analyze the historical, social and cultural context of a setting.
4. Analyze theme.
5. Utilize knowledge of literary elements, mood and tone to write a play around a centralized theme.
Week 8
Publishing & Presentation
1. Reread and analyze clarity of all writing pieces.
2. Prepare all writing pieces for publication (writing for display or to share with others)

Note: For High school students, since many of you are taking intensive college classes till the end of July, AP/SAT Math, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese and English classes will resume in August,
3. Ms. Lu& Dr. Y-Olympiad Class 3 -Math Counts, AMC8/10 class content: Thursday 7:00~9:00PM.
Week1: Math Counts overview and understand all concepts which related Math Counts.
Week2: Specific problem solving strategies which related Math Contest. Arithmetic / Geometric Sequence and Series
The contents will be changed base on majority student’s actual level. Will give test on every class to speed up student’s thinking skill.
All Olympiad Class 3 students need to a bring note book or binder to take notes if needed. And prepare a calculator which will be used in Target Round practice.
